Xiangjiang Happy City
The former site of the base is the original Xinsheng Cement Factory of Hunan Province in Pingtang Town, which was established in 1958.
Beginning in 2009, Xinsheng Cement Factory officially ended its historical mission and permanently left a piece of land in Pingtang Town, which is only 10 kilometers away from the urban area of Changsha. The designer cleverly used the “scars” of the urbanization process to transform it into a new urban landmark. It took 7 years to finally transform the abandoned mine pit, an industrial site, into a vibrant and experiential “two-type” theme park, realizing the world’s first bold idea and attempt to rebirth the mine site into a theme park.
The project includes two parks---Happy Snow Park and Happy Water Park, with a total construction area of about 110,000 square meters, among which the cold area of Happy Snow Park covers an area of 30,000 square meters, which includes the two functions of skiing and snow play. Happy Water Park covers an area close to 80,000 square meters, forming a streamlined linkage with Langham Place Resort Hotel on the south side, and a spatial relationship with complementary functions. The abandoned 100-meter deep pit will be radiated with new vitality and life through functional implantation.
As the world’s first “ice” and “fire” theme park with two polar climate activities in one, the indoor and outdoor happy snow park and outdoor happy water park are themed with water by different forms of “ice, snow, wave” to fully interpret the infinite charm of water, and becomes a beautiful pearl on the bank of the Rhine River in the east.
