After the occurrence of Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12, 2008, according to the requirement of Shanghai government, the Group’s rapidly set up earthquake relief supporting groups going to Sichuan. The supporting group took only 8 hours in compiling the design standard guidance of transitional building, and completed 2 versions of complete design package of permanent residence within 48 hours (including the renderings). On May 21, the first batch of personnel went to Mianyang and took with them the standard modulus design drawings of all the transition rooms; on July 17, they completed the design and field cooperation of all land blocks’ transition rooms and schools. The Group’s anti-seismic rescue and supporting group carried out 57 days of field design work in total in Mianyang, assigning 31 designers of project management and other disciplines, and in total 44 man times. 7 subsidiary companies of the Group implemented 24-hour shifts on duty in Shanghai; 115 people (417 man times) in total participated in overtime shifts to cooperate with the field work. The Group completed the design of 60,108 transition rooms in total; putting residence aside, it included 30 primary schools, 41 middle schools, 9 mixed primary and middle schools and 1 kindergarten.

In the process of aid construction of transition rooms nationwide, the Xian Dai Group developed design standard and drawings at the earliest stage, and was fully recognized by the central government and Mianyang municipality. The Group’s design of No. 7 land block transition rooms and matching living facilities were taken by the Mianyang municipality as mock-up design of earthquake-stricken areas. Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee complimented the “humanized” design of the toilet, shower room, kitchen and so on when visiting the site.

After the central government determined Shanghai to take charge of the post-disaster reconstruction in Dujiangyan area, the Group rapidly took actions, and undertook in turn the design of 30 aid projects and the drawing review of 50 construction projects. On December 3, 2008, the Group’s Dujiangyan Aid-construction Project Department was officially established in the Dujiangyan City. In April 2009, the Group’s Dujiangyan aid construction contract of first batch of 23 projects were officially signed, including Traditional Medicine Hospital of Dujiangyan City, Dujiangyan Huimin Elegant Settlement Community, Dujiangyan Juyuan Vocational Middle School, etc.

On August 14, 2010, the completion ceremony of Shanghai aid construction of Dujiangyan post-disaster reconstruction project was officially held. Mr. Han Zheng, then mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Jiang Jufeng, Sichuan Province governor, Mr. Hu Yanzhao, vice mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Ge Honglin, mayor of Chengdu, Mr. Xue Chao, general commander of Shanghai air construction of Dujiangyan post-disaster reconstruction Command Center, Mr. Lin Xiang, secretary of Shanghai External Cooperation Office, Mr. Huang Rong, head of Shanghai Urban-Rural Development and Transportation Commission attended the ceremony in rainy weather, and Mr. Zhang Hua, the Group’s president attended the ceremony on behalf of the Group. After the ceremony, the leadership including the mayor Han Zheng met the excellent workers in aid construction, and took an inspection visit to the Group’s designed Dujiangyan Press Center, learned and recognized the Group’s work of aid construction.
